Let me add just a little more. I didnt mean to imply you didnt know the diff
between a mux and a router. I was not addressing pri specifically. I was
trying to address CRC errors in general.
Based on the OSI definition of the network layers:
The function of the Data Link Layer are:
1. Control when a device can transmit/recieve (media access control)
2. Detect AND depending on the layer protocol, correct errors
3. Identify the begining and ending of the message packet.
PPP is at the Data Link Layer level and uses error detection. Bad datagrams
are just dropped which is stupid.
I was reading thru PPP Reliable Transmission RFC 1663, and it has some
interesting info in it.
