RE: (PM) PM3 as LNS

Thanks James.

I assume this will only work with COMOS 3.9 in beta ?

Also, where can I find additional information on the LNS cards for the PM4
(can;t find it on the web) ? How much memory would you need to handle 4500
sessions ?

You mention that you have seen PM3's and PM4's working with Cisco
LNS's...What about with Cisco's as a LAC ? I have tested Cisco - Cisco --
Ascend Max to Cisco and Cisco to Ascend succesfully, but have not got the
right COMOS version in my hands to test a Portmaster.

Depending on the price of the LNS card the PM4 sounds like a great
alternative to Cisco.

Also, do you have any indication how many sessions the PM3 *could* handle if
they change the COMOS to handle more than 64 assigned IP addresses ?
Obvisouly, this is a much cheaper solution than the PM4 and hey, what will
they do with all the trade-ins to PM4's ;-).

Thanks for the information...

Cheers

Hello Dan
The PM3 can handle 64 Tunnels or Sessions. This is just because the IP pool
size can only be 64 big. This will probably be expanded in future software
versions.
The PM4 can handle 500 Sessions per LNS card.
You can put 9 LNS cards in each PM4 causing it to handle 4500 Sessions.
Cheers
James
P.S. I have seen PM3 and PM4s currently working with Cisco LNS's
