Compaq simply SUCKS there are no two ways around it. Check out
http://www.mia.net/HTML/news/index.html as our news section is filled
with Compaq encounters. The best thing to do with a compaq is ship it
back.. It's a peice of SHIT plain and simple.
However, we have had our R&D working on these and other non-standard,
non-compliant pieces of crap modems for several weeks now... So far, we
have yet to find a single modem that will not contact and maintain a
good/acceptable connection to a PM3!
Here is some of our fixes...(Free to all)
Limiting The Connection Speed
Have them Call in and See what they com in at. Write it down
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Modems
Highlight the modem that will be used
Properties -> Connection -> Advanced
For 3Com and USR
Type in the extra settings Window &Nn
Were n is the number before the what they came in at.
n= 1 300 bps n= 2 1200 bps n= 3 2400 bps
