Few things people will need to try to help you:
What the user entry looks like in the user table?
How are you authentication the user when you do not use the user table
(RADIUS I would guess - If so what does the entry look like)?
What does the route table look like with out the user logged on and after
the user logs on both ways?
What does the port settings look like when the user is logged on both ways?
What does the port settings look like when the user is not logged on?
What type of modem on both ends?
What type of client?
