Are you people off your rockers? Or have you gone mad? Look, perhaps I
am speaking out of school here, but I can not find a single modem that
cannot successfully negotiate and hold a reliable connection with a PM3.
Why on earth Lucington should have to cater to every mam-be-pam-be piece
of shit modem out there is beyond me. I'm not suffering here... Sure we
beat our heads against the wall for a bit and whined and bitched, but
then reality caught me by the b#lls, and good sense took over. We put
one person here in charge of figuring out why the hell crappy modems from
wanna be loser, worthless, crap house, companies like Compaq, and Acer,
Gateway, USR, etc., do not work with the PM3. We found out some
interesting stuff along the way too.. Duh, these pieces of shit don't
work with other NAS's as well. Duh, most are Shitwell chipset. Duh, most
are software based modems. Duh, they are all shit.

Here are the fixes to the most common trouble makers out there AGAIN.
Now go email there lists and tell them what crap they make!!!!!

Here are some of our fixes...(Free to all)

Limiting The Connection Speed
Have them Call in and See what they com in at. Write it down
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Modems
Highlight the modem that will be used
Properties -> Connection -> Advanced
For 3Com and USR
Type in the extra settings Window &Nn
Were n is the number before the what they came in at.
n= 1 300 bps n= 2 1200 bps n= 3 2400 bps
n= 4 4800 bps n= 5 7200 bps n= 6 9600 bps
n= 7 12000 bps n= 8 14400 bps n= 9 16800 bps
n=10 19200 bps n=11 21600 bps n=12 24000 bps
n=13 26400 bps n=14 28800 bps n=15 31200 bps

n=37 54666 bps n=38 56000 bps n=39 57333 bps

For Rockwell
Type in the extra settings Window +MS=12,1,xxxxx,56000
Were xxxxx is the speed they cam in at.
For Lucent (Apollo / Mars)
Type in the extra settings Window AT-v90=n
were n is what they came at on the chart below
n= 2 28000 n= 3 29333 n= 4 30666

"On a day no different than the one now dawning, Leonardo drew the first
strokes of the Mona Lisa, Shakespeare wrote the first words of Hamlet, and
Beethoven began work on his Ninth Symphony." And Windows98 Crashed!
