I can testify that fiber doesn't necessarily help with the modem
connections.
It's some magic combination of switch settings and voodoo that Lucent
doesn't seem to want to take an official stance on.
BTW, while we're bashing, I am really tired of everybody saying how
easy the PM3 is to setup when they forget to say that, oh, by the way,
you also need to find your friendly neighborhood telco switch engineer,
have him try half a dozen switch setting combinations and try each
combination with 2 dozen modem brands from a variety of locations. Repeat
for each new line you order.
