pet peeve warning:

I disagree. Speech is the most analogue system of all. You can remove 99% of
speech and still have enough left for communications. But can you point
out thte error-correction mechanisms underlying speech? Anyone who've heard what
ham's can stand for speech degradation will know what I mean. On the other hand
there are plenty digital systems where a single bit-error will mean catastrophic
failure.

I'm not exactly pleased with the current 'digital is better'-tantrum.

It's the implementation, not the technology that defines robustness.
