(PM) pm3 disconnects

Hi!

Well I think now you lose the relation to the discussion. I don't think
anybody'd say people should talk digital (I know that's not what you =
meant,
but now I do the same to your argument what you did to the other's). =
We're
talking about how 2 fully digital units talk together and there the =
answer
has to be: digital is better than analogue. The digital transmission is =
(of
course) optimized for digital transmissions, analogue ways are not. And =
in
the end, you transfer a digital signal - and you can do this better on
digital ways than on analogues.

pet peeve warning:

I disagree. Speech is the most analogue system of all. You can remove =
99% of
speech and still have enough left for communications. But can you point
out thte error-correction mechanisms underlying speech? Anyone who've =
heard
what
ham's can stand for speech degradation will know what I mean. On the =
other
hand
there are plenty digital systems where a single bit-error will mean
catastrophic
failure.=20

I'm not exactly pleased with the current 'digital is better'-tantrum.

It's the implementation, not the technology that defines robustness.
