No, it does not. The PM ONLY sends the modem string, which has the &W,
at boot time and when and *ADMIN RESET* is performed on the port. Ie, when
you 'rest s0'.
You *SHOULD* have &W on any string in the PM modem table precisely for this
reason - you WANT it saved to NVRAM so that when the modem resets on loss of
DTR after a call it has the right settings in NVRAM and uses them. Otherwise
modems can and will reset to whatever they do have saved - I've seen this
too many times.
