Upgrade his modem software. I've resorted to using the drivers from
Zoltrix, which seem generic and are the most current I've found, on
anything HCF that comes in the door, basically; simple enough procedure,
just decompress the files to a directory on the hard drive, then go to
add/remove programs in control panel and remove "Rockwell HCF Modem" from
the list. Then reboot and when it asks for drivers for the PCI serial
equipment enter the directory where you unzipped the files. The latest
version I've seen so far is 2.1.2.156; many HCF modems ship with 2.1.2.123
or something like that, and everything below 2.1.2.134/135 really sucks
against PM3's.
So far it's worked like a charm for me and the modems upgraded have all
performed better, if not perfectly.
