Good thought, but incorrect. ISDN calls are digital, not analogue which
means you won't hear anything (aside from the odd click here and there).
I've seen this once before when running an engineering version of ComOS
3.8. This version didn't include any modem code, so you had to load a
normal version of ComOS 3.8 and then apply the engineering version as a
sort of patch. Because I wasn't told this, I just loaded it on top of
ComOS 3.7.2c3 and got the same effect as the original poster mentions
above.

It sounds like something is hideously wrong the ComOS image that you have
loaded and I'd recommend re-flashing (and rebooting) it at your earliest
convenience.
