It is important to note that MOST UPS's these days are actually mislabled as
UPS's and they are actually SPS's. A TRUE ups is active and generates a
contant and well formed stepped wave. An SPS simply detects a power drop and
clamps the line.
Bad thing about a UPS is they usually wear out faster, and if they dont
generate a good approximation of a wave (i.e. lots of steps), then it can
overheat your power supply.
