I was wondering if I could verify our step by step process of configuring this router...
The router is going to be connecting one local network to our internet service.
My class C is 207.166.215.0, with a default gateway of 207.166.215.1
I would like to assign a dedicated IP from our class C (specifically, 207.166.215.91)to the router.
We also want to set this account up for dedicated, dialback purposes, dual B channel.
BUT
At the moment I'm aiming just to get it to dial out and connect with us. I think the networking properties are the issue.
I'm going to give every piece of information that seems important. If you have a suggestion that we try something could you also include information as to why we should do this so I can learn as much as possible? I especially want to be able to know what to expect after making any modifications. Here goes, thanks a bunch!
Basically we've got a portmaster ORU dialing a PM3, ultimately I want the PM3 to dialback to the ORU, I'll take a connection of any type for now :)
Here's the global of the PM3:
pm1> sho glo
System Name: pm1
Default Host: shell.speedynet.net
Alternate Hosts: 207.166.215.36
IP Gateway: 207.166.215.1
Gateway Metric: 1
Default Routing: Quiet (Off)
Name Service: DNS
Name Server: shell.speedynet.net, 207.166.215.36
Domain: speedynet.net
Telnet Access Port: XXXXXXX
Loghost: 0.0.0.0
Maximum PMconsole: 2
Assigned Address: 207.166.215.150 <-- WHy is this .150? Just curious.
RADIUS Server: 207.166.215.35 1645
Alternate Server: 207.166.215.37 1645
Accounting Server: 207.166.215.36 1646
Alt. Acct. Server: 207.166.215.37 1646
ChoiceNet Server: 0.0.0.0
Alt. ChNet Server: 0.0.0.0
PPP Authentication: PAP: on CHAP: on
ISDN Switch Type: att-5ess <-- Always found this odd, my TA must use NI-1
End Point Disc: None
Disabled Modules: IPX OSPF BGP
The user I have setup on the portmaster (PM3):
pm1> show user 1edi
Username: 1edi Type: Dial-in Network User
Address: 207.166.215.91 Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Protocol: PPP Options: Quiet, Compression
MTU: 1500 Async Map: 00000000
So, I'm dialing in from my ORU as 1edi. Again, right now I'm just looking to get a dial-up connection established.
Last night we were actually able to get it to connect and stay connected, but I think our routing table was hosed as we were not able to route through this connection...
It would seem the simplesst way to do this is to setup NAT on the ORU with an eth0 address of:
192.168.1.1 and a netmask of 255.255.255.0 and no gateway
Then when the connection occurs, the ISDN line will have an address of:
207.166.215.91 and a netmask of 255.255.255.0 and use the default gateway assigned by the portmaster.
Correct?
I've read through the supplied docs with the ORU but we were having trouble setting the routes up.
Here is some more information from the ORU

I don't think that Gateway (192.168.1.1) is correct - we couldn't get it modified.

I'm feeling pretty ignorant and going back through the book that came with the portmaster 3 to see what I'm missing... I'm certain it is something obvious to the experienced and I'm game to learn.
Thanks a bunch!
