>From what area code and exchange are you calling? If you're on a 1AESS
switch as I am, you may find that 3Com 5.0.0 completely botches the kind of
codec that's on our digital trunk. It doesn't matter which server I call;
the only reliable connections are at V.34.

I visited the Russian web site (URL not handy...sorry) and was able to
install 4.9.1 on my modem, which returned to its competitive V.90 behavior
on my line.
