Step 1: Make a copy of the script you want to edit
Step 2: Modify that file using a program called FileTyper so that you can
edit it. (Modem Scripts Type and Creator start as 'mlts', 'slnk'. A
SimpleText editable file would be 'TEXT', 'ttxt'.)
Step 3: Edit the file. Somewhere in the file (usually under the heading
'@LABEL 3') there will be a standard modem init string in the format:
'write "ATsomethingorother\13"' The \13 is the carraige return at the end
of the string. Change the string.
Step 4: Save the file under a different name.
Step 5: Use File Typer to modify the file back to the original type and
creator.
Step 6: Put the modified modem script into the Modem Scripts folder (drag
it onto the system folder and the computer should tell you that is where it
will put it).
Step 7: Open the Modem Control Panel and select the new script. Close the
Modem Control Panel and save changes before dialing.
That's it. When I modify scripts for a customer, I create a generic script,
a v.34 script, and several scripts that limit the modem to a maximum
connection speed. That way, as line quality changes, or with software
changes on our end, the customer can just switch modem script files to
prevent disconnections.
Good luck.
