If someone is interested, here is what we have found for these modems:

S52 - V.34 and 56K Settings for Data Signaling
Range : n.a.
Default : 2

Description: S52 (bit-mapped) controls certain modes of V.34 and 56K data
transmission. The V.34 Standard allows different line speeds in transmit
and receive direction. (asymmetric data rates).

Value Bit Description
01 Bit 0 - Disables asymmetric data rates for V.34.
02 Bit 1 - Disables auxiliary channel for V.34.
04 Bit 2 - Disables V.34 data rates above 28.8 kbps
Bit 3 - Reserved
16 Bit 4 - Disables use of proprietary interface for 56Kbps operation
32 Bit 5 - Disables use of the V.90 interface for 56Kbps operation
Bits 6-7 - Reserved
