Jeff,
Unless I'm mistaken, didn't most 68040-based Macs have a top-out
on their serial ports of 38400? Would this account for some of the
problems? Generally, what I've done in situations like this is
dropped the customer to 38400 port speed, and, for Global Village
modems, set them to CTS-only for the flow control (recommended to me
by Global Village).... I may be wrong, but it's a place to start...
