Don't forget about the fact that by limiting distribution, they can ensure
that when fielding support calls on the software, or when talking about a
particular version, it's all relative to the same source distribution.
This is valuable from a support perspective, and limits confusion
regarding multiple copies of ever-so-slightly modified versions.
