I'm trying to connect to a PM2ER at a remote POP with a 56k line.
This works beautifully right now, hanging the 56k off a Cisco sync
port at this end. However, I need the Cisco port to feed a T1 to
another PM in a few days.
So having seen talk here of connecting PMs with these Adtran
async/sync beasties on the async ports, I figured I'd hang one off a
PM async port here and put it on this end of the 56k ... in other
words, I want to run the 56k with a sync csu/dsu on one end and an
async/sync Adtran on the other.
So far, I cannot make this work ... so question #1 is: Am I attempting
to do the impossible? - do such configurations inherently not work?
If so, the rest doesn't much matter, but in case this SHOULD work ...
when I plug in the async line to the PM and the 56k telco line, the
green LEDs all come on except for the "TD" light, which never even
blinks (except on powerup self test). 0x51 debug on both PM's show
them sending LCP_CONFIGURE_REQUEST's over and over, but neither end
ever reports receiving anything at all. I get identical behavior for
two different Adtran units.
The PM2ER is miles away at an unmanned POP, so I don't know what the
remote csu thinks of all this. Of course, when I'm trying to make
this work the remote POP is out of service, and a lot of people there
are annoyed.
If this should work and anybody has any tips, I'd be rel grateful ...
