And how is this any better than V.42 compression on any standard modem,
with the limit of 115.2Kbps over a 28.8 connection? It all depends on the
data.
>1) Does the PM2ER do netbui traffic over the PPP connection?
No, and we do not plan to support NetBUI. We do support NetBIOS and you
can run MS networking over standard TCP/IP and IPX which we support.
>3) Is there any comperable compression scheme on the PM's to what
> RAS is boasting?
The PM does not do compression. On async connections modems do compression.
Precompressing the data in RAS will probably have adverse effects if the
modem is also trying to compress the data. Trying to compress compressed
data slows down a connection.
>I currently have 3 PM's in service and would like to use them for another
>application, but the customer is hyped on the RAS alternative. Any help
It is just marketing fluff, I haven't seen any real speed advantage from
MS's solutiuon. They just want to sell more NT boxes to act as glorified
comm servers.
