Not in my eyes. pmconsole is an application. I have to trust it to a
certain degree (it will "know" my portmaster passwords), but I don't have
to run it as root, or as a daemon. I don't like the idea of someone
handing me a binary and saying "run this daemon on your systems as
root...trust me." I have a feeling I'm not alone...or maybe this is just
an attitude Linux users develop...or developers use.

Look at the holes that have been found in radiusd. These things wouldn't
be as easy to find or as fast to fix, if the source wasn't available.
