If memory serves... ATI11 and ATI6 will tell you quite a bit about your
phone line. Thats about the maximum extent of the Sportster's testing
abilities that I can find. The Courier V.everything has an
equalization analization that will tell you a lot about your line
quality which I have used these results against GTE several times
giving me better results (still "gee whiz Wilbur, I don't know" instead
of "hey, yer wasting my time you internet heathen") with them.

Also, I have found about 90% of all GTE phone installations are
INPROPERLY GROUNDED. VERY dangerous, and most installations do the
charge-spark-discharge static removal (since GTE is too stupid to know
that you should connect things to a GROUND POLE.... Arrrgh!) which
makes a fair amount of noise in the line, causing some juicy line
noise.

Good luck, and don't forget, holding GTE servicement hostage until the
job is done is generally a good move...
