I'd better not go into too much detail, the product announcement is next
week at Interop so just be patient.
>Compression, great! With Ascend, Cisco, or just other Livingstons?
STAC, so anyone who supports it. Which, AFAIK, is everyone.
>How many Livingston customers use IPX? Are legacy protocols realy worth
>the effort to support and promotion?
Far too many to not support it. Heck, we have some people who want us
to support NetBUI, and a lot of people want us to ship the Appletalk code.
There are a large number of users on PMs using IPX. Heck, just this week
2 people asked about IPX configs on this list.
>>8. We use DSPs for a full digital path, they have microcom analog modem

>A desireable feature to be sure but what I'd really like to know is how fast
>these modems connect, how do they hold a noisy line, will they retrain up as
>well as down, and how good is their interoperability with the other
>popular modems (USR, Microcom, etc).
They should connect nigh-instantly as the carrier to the box is ISDN. Being
digital line noise isn't as much an issue as with analog modems. I don't
know about retraining, and honestly it is too early to say how they work
with the brands are large. Tests are ok, but tests aren't the same as
a production environment and all the variables therein.
>>11. With the PM you get integral support for the industry standard - RADIUS.
>Speaking of which, when (if ever) will RADIUS be a real RFC.
The IESG has it now AFAIK. Should be getting a number any time now. There
is a fixed process you know, nothing you can do to rush it. Each step has
a minimum waiting period.
