First, I would like to thank everyone who has responded with information
and suggestions about the line problem we are having with a customer.

The saga continues:
This morning, GTE brought in a laptop computer with a built-in 14.4 modem
and connected to our system on the bad line at 19200bps. Interesting
situation, huh? So the line will work with 14.4 modems but not with 33.6
modems. I guess, I could believe that there was something wrong within the
customers computer itself, but what troubles me is that the computer was
moved to another phone line and it worked perfectly.

Will wonders never cease?
