W = VA (Watts = Voltage * Amps)

Well, yes, but the heat is generate by using energy, and electricity used.
Normally higher VA = more heat.

A Watt

Hmm, I dunno w/ monitor maybe 30 watts??

PM's are very low power. Your modems will eat the most power.

Example:

We have a 10KVA UPS system (Best power technologies)

We have 3 PM2e-30's, 1 PM 3 2T (48 digital modems), 1 MultiTech rack (48
modems) 15 USR sportsters, 2 3com LinkSwitch 1000's, 1 Cisco 7000 (1
EIP-6, 1 FSIP-8), 7 CSU/DSU's, 1 Wescom Channel Bank, 6 Servers, 10
workstations, 2 printers on the UPS and we pull about 3.6Kva constant.
The MultiTech and the Cisco generate the most heat and use the most power.

The Best 10Kva UPS has 10 12 volt batteries (120 volt DC bus) and we can
run about 5 hours with our current load on UPS. If I shut off all the
'extra' machines we can bump that up to 8 hours.

We haven't had a power outage last > 20 minutes in a couple years (knock
wood)

My recommendation for a UPS is to get a GOOD one, online, ours is
hardwired directly into the building, we have black outlet covers on all
UPS protected circuits. I have seen this UPS eat a lightning strike and
survive. The machines being protected didn't get hit at all.
