Once upon a time Brandon Miller shaped the electrons to say...
>them due to my continued troubles with the newer USR 33.6 Sportsters
>and Livingston PM2E30s. The tech told me that is was the Livingston
>code, which tries to force the incoming modem and the one on the port
>to negotiate at the vfc protocol and speed. The newer 33.6 modems do

This is LAUGHABLE.

The PM does NOTTHING. We cannot *force* V.FC. It is an external
modem, we have nothing at all to do with the protocols. Unless you
have set a specific modem string the default AT&F1s0=1&W is what USR
recommends and that just says "do your default" - nothing about the
protocol to use.

Whomever you talked to was blowing smoke - and if they even *thought*
this they don't have ANY clue about serial communications whatsoever.

And the 33.6 modems with the older power supplies work fine on top
of all this.

I'd call back and demand to talk to this guys manager.
