Re: (PM) MAJOR Support Improvements!

Must be luck of the draw, still waiting several days for a call back from
a support engineer that truly understands MLLB.

Like any organization, Lucington has its share of star performers but they
can always use more!

BTW - I have seen/received many explanations on MLLB and how it works. At
the risk of being flamed by MZ I now understand why many people feel MLLB
is broken in PM3 3.8.2. (Note to MZ: I do have a ticket open!)

The standard explanation given by the first level techs state that MLLB is
a round robin technique that "just works" sending packets alternately down
one pipe then the other. Well it may have been that way in the past but I
can assure you that it does NOT work that way in the real world today. (At
least when talking to a Linux box running EQL)

Using the Lucent explanation, a simple ping test should show packets
alternating down each pipe. On a PM3 running 3.8.2 the 2nd pipe is NOT
used UNLESS the first is already filled.

Doing actual real world tests an FTP down-load DOES use both modems and I
can state that MLLB is working in ComOS-3.8.2 just not the way its been
claimed to work. Compressed files seem to get the most benefit from MLLB
while highly compressible files get only 75% of what you would expect.
(Not sure why this is though, modem port speeds on the Linux box are set
to 115200)

Sorry for drifting off the thread topic....
