We moved 2 years ago. We contacted the Telco 4 months before the move,
The installed 400 pair of copper and pre-built the local loops of all our
T1's. The also built an entire centrex hunt group (analog modems) so the
only needed to move 1 number (the one customers call) and CF the rest. I
had everything prewired & tested.
At the time of the move I had 4 NYNEX engineers in my office along with
the district manager (at 1:30 AM) We bought them pizza (the have always
been very nice to us since). We started the cut at 1:30A and by the time
my techs got the equipment out of the rack and over to our new building
NYNEX had all the circuits moved over. We plugged in, clicked our heels
three times and were back up. The only screw up was with our tech support
phones. Total downtime about 1 hour.
It pays to be VERY nice to the telco guys that do all the work. They
can't accept gifts but we find a way.
Good luck
