The only complaint I had with the PM25s was that they wouldn't reset the
modem after each call, and from what I could tell, can't be configured
to do so. I was used to this because my Microannexes did it. After I
made the switch to the PM25s, I began to realize we were getting a lot
of modems that would hang on hook (ring, no answer). These modems were
all Practical Peripherals 33.6 minitowers. Our Practical 28.8
minitowers were fine, as were our Supra 28.8s and our Hayes 28.8 modems.
The problem was only on the Practical 33.6 models. I contacted support,
and although they tried to help, it seemed that the Practical 33.6 modem
just needed a reset after taking a few calls. I finally ended up having
to write a Perl script to reset the modems. It ran as a cron job that
connected to the PM25s every 5 minutes, and did a 'show ses'. If any of
the ports had been released since the last run, it would reset that
modem.
